MCL Technologies has a few product policies that we think are very reasonable for a company that is 100% dependent on software revenues to support existing products and innovate new products. It is important for you to be aware of our policies so you know what to expect of us, and what we expect of you!

Product Orders

We only accept orders from our OEM technology partners and select distributors. They place their orders with us via an online ordering system. Once the order is placed, the order is filled immediately and a license certificate is emailed to the email address provided in the online order form.

Since the order is filled the moment it is placed with us, we regret that we cannot accept order cancelations. To cancel an order, you need to cancel it with the technology partner or distributor, with whom you placed your order, BEFORE they place the order with MCL Technologies.


Product Activations

To use our products, you need to download, install, and then activate the product using the license certificate you receive when you order the product.

MCL PC-Based Software

MCL supports two methods of activation on most of our PC-based software products:

Software Activation
Using this method of activation, the software being activated becomes PC Dependent. You will not be able to transfer your licensing details over to a different PC if you want to install and run the software on a different PC.

Hardware Activation
This method of activation requires the purchase of an MCL Hardware Key. Using this method of activation, the software being activated becomes PC Independent. This means you can install and run the software on a different PC at anytime, providing you are able to plug the related Hardware Key into the other PC. The given Hardware Key must be present for the software to run.

During the software licensing process, you will be prompted to choose between the Software Activation method and the Hardware Activation method. Be sure to understand the benefits of each method and the consequences of choosing one method over the other. Make your activation choice carefully. The activation method you use cannot be changed at a later stage.

MCL V3 Mobile Computer Based Software

MCL V3 software for mobile computers supports Software Activation only. This means that the software being activated is Device Dependent. You will not be able to transfer your licensing details over to a different device if you want to install and run the software on a different device.


Product Exchanges

MCL Technologies does not accept product returns. However, we do offer a 15-day product exchange period. We acknowledge that mistakes do happen in ordering. Therefore, we will accept and process product exchanges providing the following conditions are met:

  • the exchange request is made to MCL Technologies by the OEM technology partner or distributor, from which you purchased the software, within 15 days from the day MCL issued the related product license certificate

  • the product to be exchanged has not been activated

When you receive your MCL license certificate, check it carefully to be sure it is for the product you need. If not, notify the OEM technology partner or distributor from which you purchased the software, immediately, so the exchange can be processed within the 15-day exchange period.


Warranty Period

MCL Technologies' software products and hardware keys are warrantied for 90 days or according to the statutory warranty period of local governing laws.


Hardware Key Warranty Replacement

If a Hardware Key fails, such that it is no longer recognized by a PC, and there is no sign of physical damage, MCL Technologies will replace the given Hardware Key, free of charge within the warranty period.

Return the defective Hardware Key to MCL Technologies, at your cost. When we receive the defective key, and confirm that it is defective and not physically damaged, we will send you a replacement Hardware Key, at our cost.


Broken Hardware Key Replacement

If a Hardware Key is physically damaged and you want to replace it, MCL Technologies will help you with a Hardware Key replacement.

Here is the procedure:

  • Send the broken Hardware Key to MCL Technologies, at your cost

  • Pay a €100 (or $130 USD) administrative fee

  • Order a new Hardware Key(s) from your usual MCL supplier

  • When we have received the broken Hardware Key and payment for the administrative fee, we will reissue the license(s) you had associated with the broken key

  • Then, when you receive your new Hardware Key from your MCL supplier, simply re-activate your MCL software against the new Hardware Key


Hardware Key Swap

If you are using a parallel port Hardware Key to run your MCL software, today, on a PC with a parallel port and want to run the software on a PC without a parallel port but with a USB port, or…

If you have associated several MCL software licenses to one Hardware Key and now want to distribute those same licenses across several Hardware Keys in order to run the different software products on different PCs at the same time…

… Then, MCL Technologies will help you with a Hardware Key swap.

Here is the procedure:

  • Send the Hardware Key to be replaced to MCL Technologies, at your cost

  • Pay a €100 (or $130 USD) administrative fee

  • Order the new Hardware Key(s) from your usual MCL supplier

  • When we have received the Hardware Key to be replaced and the payment for the administrative fee, we will reissue the license(s) you had associated with the original Hardware Key(s)

  • Then, when you receive your new Hardware Key(s) from your MCL supplier, simply re-activate your MCL software against the new Hardware Key(s)


Hardware Key to Software Key Transfer

If you are using a Hardware Key activation to run your MCL software and want to convert it to a Software Key activation, MCL Technologies will help you with the transfer.

Here is the procedure:

  • Send the Hardware Key to be replaced to MCL Technologies, at your cost

  • Pay a €100 (or $130 USD) administrative fee

  • When we have received the Hardware Key and the payment for the administrative fee, we will reissue the license(s) you had associated with the given Hardware Key

  • Then, when you receive your reissued licenses, simply re-activate your MCL software using the Software Key activation method

Be aware that the reverse procedure is not possible. You cannot convert a Software Key to a Hardware Key.


Lost or Stolen Licenses

MCL Technologies’ software products are not insured by MCL Technologies, for the customer, against loss, damage or theft.

In other words, in the case of MCL licenses, whether they are activated on a Hardware Key, PC or a mobile device which is subsequently lost, damaged or stolen, MCL Technologies will not grant new activation codes to replace the licenses lost, destroyed or taken.


License Key Deletion

MCL Technologies does not accept responsibility for license keys lost through deletion from the PC or other device running your MCL software.

We advise you to implement a few simple, good practices to prevent such loss.

Firstly, keep your license certificates in a safe place. This can save you time and money at a later date. A license certificate is what you are actually buying when you make an MCL purchase. For example, if you purchase a $2,000 software package, the license certificate you get is worth $2,000 to you. If a license key is deleted from your system for any reason, you will need the corresponding license certificate to re-activate your software. Without it, you will need to re-purchase the product. In this example, it will cost you another $2,000.

Secondly, be sure to backup your MCL license keys (MCL.Key file). This too can save you time and money at a later date. When you activate your software, MCL generates an MCL license key, called MCL.Key. During the activation process, you are prompted to Backup the MCL.Key file. Make sure you make this backup. It may be sufficient to re-activate your software if the MCL.Key file is inadvertently deleted. If you do not have this backup and cannot find the related license certificate, you will need to re-purchase the product.

Thirdly, BEFORE you send a mobile computer in for repair, make sure you have the relevant license certificate and MCL.Key file saved and on-hand. If one of your mobile computers fails and you need to send it in for repair, the manufacturer’s repair depot will likely reflash your device and erase your MCL software and MCL.Key file in the process. Unless you have a service agreement with the manufacturer to restore your software and MCL.Key, you will need to re-install and re-activate your MCL software on the mobile computer when you get it back from repair. As long as you have your original license certificate you should not have any problems re-activating MCL on your device. The MCL.Key may also work, but is not guaranteed to do so, depending on the nature of the repair.

Please take proper care of your license certificates, your MCL.Key files, and your Hardware Keys so you do not find yourself inconvenienced or having to make replacement purchases.


Product Support

MCL Technologies does not provide first line of support to customers using MCL. The MCL Technology Partner or Distributor, from which you purchased your software, provides the initial problem analysis and issue logging. If they are unable to assist you, they escalate the support request to us. MCL Technologies gives highest priority support to its partners’ open support cases.

All Technical Support tickets submitted directly to MCL Technologies are handled on a first come, first served priority basis unless you have priority support service level entitlements.

Furthermore, requests for MCL Technologies’ direct support must be made via ticket submission on our centralized Support Center. Due to the global distribution of our customers and our desire to treat all our customers equally, regardless of where they are in world, we offer electronic support only. This allows us to help everyone fairly by addressing everyone’s concerns in the order in which they are received. Plus, this support method allows us to track issue resolution. It also allows us to share accurate details about an issue with other individuals if issue resolution involves more than one person or organization. Be assured that we always do our best to help you as quickly as possible.

When you submit a ticket to our Support Center, you are agreeing to our Support Terms and Conditions.

Finally, we provide support for our own software products only. Our support organization does not provide application consulting or debugging services for the applications you create using our products.


Volume Price Discounts

MCL Technologies recognizes that the eaches prices for our products can be cost prohibitive when hundreds of sites are involved in a deployment. Consequently, we do offer volume discount prices for very large deployments.

To get a quotation for a volume price discount for a large deployment, please contact our Sales Inquiries & Business Development associates. However, please keep in mind that we sell our products only through OEM technology partners and select distributors. Therefore, any volume discounts must be mutually agreed by all parties involved.
